Patients with Deafness and other Chronic Hearing Loss (PITCH)

Research group of the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy

People with a hearing impairment often experience a wealth of communication barriers in everyday life. On the one hand, this makes it more difficult for them to access information, and on the other hand, it can lead to negative interpersonal experiences that can promote the development of mental illness.

During treatment, attention should therefore not only be focused on the design of the communication, but also on certain content-related requirements of the affected persons. For people with hearing problems often feel excluded from the activities of their fellow human beings or suffer from having to integrate their hearing impairment into their lives.
